Eastbourne College Project 150 underway

Structural Engineering Eastbourne College - foundation reinforcements

Foundations are being laid for Project 150 – Eastbourne College’s ambitious £33m re-development scheme to create a 21st century independent education campus.

Over an acre of land will be transformed to accommodate new facilities, including 32 state-of-the-art classrooms, a sports centre, dining halls and pavilion.

Eastbourne College foundation stoneGyoury Self is undertaking all structural design and detailing of this extensive project using Revit to produce an integrated BIM model. Design work includes the reinforced concrete foundations, which Vinci Construction began laying last month.

Eastbourne College celebrated this milestone on 29 January with the laying of a foundation stone at a ceremony led by the chairman of governors Sir Kevin O’Donoghue and head teacher Simon Davies.

Completion of the project is scheduled to coincide with the College’s 150th anniversary in September 2017. Project progress can be followed on the Eastbourne College website, which features an animated 3D visualisation of the completed project, as well as animated time-lapse photography of the site being prepared for construction.
