Surface Area: 44,515 m2

Opened in Summer 2015, this major new retail complex forms part of the ‘Charlton Riverside’ urban quarter regeneration plan.

The Challenges

Gyoury Self provided all structural and civil engineering design and detailing services across the 11 acre site.   Works included giant retail outlets for Sainsbury’s and Mark & Spencer, and a Costa Coffee unit with an unusual triangular projecting roof.

Civil engineering design involved works for car parks, hard standings and major highway upgrades to the surrounding road network. Surface water drainage design required significant below ground attenuation and storage prior to discharge to the Thames Water sewers.
