The Challenges

Gyoury Self provided structural and civil engineering design and detailing services across the site.

Civil engineering design involved design and detailing for car parks, hard standings and surface water drainage design.

A key challenge of this project was design of the below ground drainage system. Surface water is attenuated and stored in below ground tanks, before being discharged at a controlled rate into the public sewer. We were able to convince the water authority to allow us to make the connection into the existing Southern Water foul sewer, therefore making a considerable saving for our client, as the nearest available surface water sewer was some 20m away, below the Highway.
