Construction work is underway on Phase 2 of the Biggleswade Retail Park project in Bedfordshire. This is the second stage of an extensive project to redevelop the existing Biggleswade Retail Park into a cohesive 330,000 sq. ft. retail park with improved access and parking.
Gyoury Self undertook structural design and detailing works for the thirteen steel-framed industrial units currently under various stages of construction, as well as external civil engineering design and detailing works include hard standings for roads and parking areas. Site supervision remains ongoing during construction.
Commissioned by LXB Retail Developments PLC, the £25m re-development project was designed by architects at the Ratcliffe Groves Partnership and is being built by Ellmer Construction.
Phase 1 is now complete and TK Maxx, Matalan, Laura Ashley, Halfords, H&M and Bensons are open for business.
Phase 2 is due for completion in Spring 2016. Major high street stores set to start trading in the newly configured retail park include Marks & Spencer, Next, Boots, Outfit, River Island and New Look. The retail park scheme is expected to create up to 450 new jobs for the area.
