Having shifted down a gear from the highest alert level, like many UK businesses, we are starting to look ahead. One thing seems clear – social distancing will remain in force, at least until the end of the year.
Whilst a few of the Gyoury Self team continue to work from home, most have now returned to work in our spacious and airy offices. We are particularly delighted to welcome back our younger team members as they gain enormous benefit from working in-house alongside senior engineers. As a dynamic forward-thinking engineering company, an important aspect of business continuity is ensuring that essential learning experiences for our graduate engineers remain on track.
Whether working in-house or remotely, we continue to deliver high quality engineering services for our clients, and we have now resumed home and site visits where safe social distancing can be observed. We are also positively engaged in developing new business and nurturing pipeline projects. Maintaining momentum is vital for keeping businesses on track and ensuring the industry gets back on its feet as swiftly as possible.
Current Live Projects
Most projects remain live and we continue to work remotely with project partners. So we are still delivering full structural and civil engineering services for new and existing projects. If you have any queries regarding ongoing projects, you can just contact us as normal.
For those sites that have remained open, significant modifications have had to be implemented to ensure safe working practices on site. Until recently, non-essential site visits had been rescheduled but we are now attending live site visits where social distancing measures are in place.
Engineering Design for Pre-Planning/Planning
We are currently engineering several public sector, commercial and domestic projects through various stages of the planning process. If you have any queries about engineering input on a current application, please get in touch with your designated project engineer – or contact us to talk with a member of the engineering team.
Local Authority Planning and Building Control departments remain in operation and planning submissions are still being made. So please contact us if you require structural or civil engineering calculations and designs for new planning applications.
Tender Submissions and Project Quotes
We have been undertaking tender submissions for project contractors and welcome any new opportunities to quote for pipeline projects. We are keen to maintain momentum but also recognise that the current situation still affords an opportunity to build new business relationships – even if meeting remotely for the first time. So please feel free to get in touch to discuss any potential projects – we are happy to have a chat and provide the necessary engineering input to help get your project off the ground.
Engineering for Residential/Domestic Clients
We are still providing structural and civil engineering services for property development and domestic home improvement projects. These include:
- Structural Design
- Structural Calculations
- Structural Reporting
- Structural Solutions
Structural inspections and surveys of are an important part of the service we provide to local home owners. We are therefore happy to report that we have resumed engineering inspections of domestic properties where it is safe to do so. Our engineers will be taking special measures to ensure your safety and their own. And if we do need to enter your home, we’ll call you beforehand to talk to you about how we can make our visit as short and safe as possible. Safe social distancing will be observed at all times.

Property Conversions and Home Offices
Enforced self-isolation at home and remote working is inspiring many people to consider the benefits of undertaking a property conversion or home office project to expand or improve their living/working environment. We are happy to provide advice and engineering estimates for such projects. Please visit our Property Conversion page for more details or to download our information booklet. Alternatively, just contact us to speak with an engineer.
If you are experiencing a structural emergency, we can arrange a visit to appraise the issue for reporting purposes and to recommend remedial measures. Please note that we continue to follow the latest Government guidelines regarding site visits.
If your property conversion or improvement project has been postponed part way through and you have any concerns regarding structural safety, please feel free to contact us for advice.
And finally …
Gyoury Self remains on hand for all your engineering needs, and as a company we are staying positive about what the future holds beyond the current crisis. We would like to say a big thank you to all our clients, contractors and project partners who continue to work hard to keep the wheels turning.
Stay safe and well everyone!
