The expansion of East Preston Infant and Junior Schools is close to completion and final fit-out is currently underway.
The works are part of a programme of expansions to existing schools in West Sussex commissioned to provide much needed extra school places due to an increase in the number of children being born locally, people moving to the area and large housing developments.
East Preston Junior School now has a new two-storey extension which will provide 6 additional class bases. The existing school hall has also been extended and the Multi Use Games Area relocated.
The construction of a new two-storey extension at East Preston Infants School will provide an additional class base and other facilities, together with two new canopies for outside play/teaching. A new access road has been provided along with additional car parking spaces.
Gyoury Self were commissioned by Sussex-based principal contractor Sunninghill Construction to provide full structural and civil engineering services across the site.
Traditional concrete strip foundations support a steel frame and precast concrete floor planks. The buildings are clad using Metsec cold rolled steel for the inner leaf and masonry (brick and rendered block) for the outer.
Designed by architects Burns Guthrie, the East Preston school extensions will be finalised in the coming months.
