As our latest site photos show, progress is being made on Blackrock’s much anticipated extension to the Greenwich Shopping Park on Bugsby’s Way.
When completed, the new extension will include a pedestrian connection between the Greenwich Shopping Park and Charlton Riverside Retail Park; creating a high-quality retail zone in line with Greenwich Borough Council’s regeneration masterplan for the local area.
Gyoury Self is undertaking all aspects of structural and civil engineering across the retail zone development project, which is being undertaken in phases. The project developers, Cardy Construction, are due to handover the completed retail units to tenants at the end of April 2016, with the stores opening in July.
The extension will give shoppers access to several new retail units, including a flagship 2-floor Matalan store, Starbucks and Frankie & Benny’s, as well as a gym and 54 car parking spaces.
The scheme, which was designed by Ratcliffe Groves Partnership to achieve council sustainability targets, includes photovoltaic lighting, natural daylight and a wildlife-friendly living roof to meet BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standards.
A new public square is to be built at the heart of the site to meet the council’s objective of creating more high-quality open spaces.
