IDS Study Space, University of Sussex

A recently completed renovation project at the University of Sussex will provide 100 new study spaces within the main Library.

In response to student feedback, two areas previously occupied by the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and John Smith’s bookshop have been redeveloped to create an area for quiet study.

The remodelled space features individual and group study facilities, height-adjustable desks, power outlets, recharging stations and extra toilets. A second courtyard also provides an area for outdoor study.

Gyoury Self was commissioned by Cheesmur Builders to provide Structural and Civil Engineering work for the provision of foul drainage, foundations for new plant and alterations to an existing steel walkway.

The new study space is now open and has been well received by UoS staff and students alike.

In recent years, we have undertaken a number of projects at the Falmer Campus for the University of Sussex; including engineering of the eye-catching Jubilee Car Park which was completed late last year.
