Farewell Joe Willmott (for now!)

Joe Willmott

This evening we will be giving Joe Willmott a memorable send off as he heads off to finish the last two years of his Masters at Coventry University.

For the past year, Joe, has been working alongside our Sussex team on an industrial placement.

Joe was just 15 years old and preparing to start his GCSE’s when he first contacted us seeking work experience. We were delighted that he went on to pursue a career in structural and civil engineering and very happy to have him back for his year out.

Joe has just spent the past 12-months developing his skills and knowledge and gaining experience under the guidance of our structural engineering team in Brighton and Hove.

During his time with us, he has gained a wide range of supervised experience, working on frames and foundations for large buildings, smaller scale domestic projects, reports and steel connection designs.

Joe also expanded his digital engineering knowledge by learning to design 2D and 3D frames using MasterSeries and Orion. In addition as a Certified Autodesk User, he has also been working with Revit within a BIM environment.

Throughout his placement with Gyoury Self, Joe has proven himself to be an exemplary trainee. Extremely focused and dedicated to developing himself as a structural engineer, Joe has far exceeded all expectations we have for candidates working on an industrial placement.

We have no doubt that Joe will do extremely well in his Masters and we sincerely hope that he will come back in two years’ time to rejoin our team.

We will miss him!
