Construction is underway on our latest NHS extra care project at Langley Green Hospital in Crawley, West Sussex.
Langley Green is a state-of-the-art hospital for people with acute mental health problems. The new unit will provide de-escalation and seclusion facilities for use in the event of a mental health emergency.
Work includes reconfiguration of existing internal spaces and a new single storey steel-framed extension, which is being built within a semi-enclosed courtyard space just north of the hospital entrance.
The single-storey steel frame and masonry building includes an en-suite seclusion room, staff observation area, de-escalation space with calming sensory environment and private external spaces. It has been designed to help reduce any violent or self-destructive behaviour that poses a threat to the physical safety of the patient, a staff member, or others.
Gyoury Self was appointed by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to provide full structural and civil engineering services. Design is by AWW Architects, Vinci Construction is the main contractor, and Currie & Brown is managing delivery of the project.
Langley Green is one of several projects we are currently helping local NHS Trusts to deliver across Sussex.
