Mental Health Care Units, Sussex

We are currently working with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to help deliver a series of state-of-the-art specialist facilities across the region. These swift turnaround projects are aimed at increasing front line mental health service provision in Sussex.

We have been appointed as Consulting Structural Engineers for Haven Facilities at Meadowfield Hospital in Worthing and Langley Green Hospital in Crawley.

These projects involve adapting and refurbishing existing accommodation to create Health Based Places of Safety (HBPoS). These facilities will reduce pressure on other departments during the COVID 19 pandemic and provide a safe and relaxing environment for evaluation and assessment for those experiencing a mental health crisis.

We are also providing engineering services for the Woodlands Acute Care Facility in St. Leonards to deliver two Section 136 de-escalation units to support those experiencing a severe mental health crisis. The S136 Suites provide a ‘place of safety’ under the Mental Health Act for de-escalation, assessment and arrangement of on-going care.

Gyoury Self was appointed as Consulting Structural Engineers for the projects which involve structural alterations and below ground drainage for the specially-adapted spaces. We are currently working alongside architects Miller Bourne as part of the design and tender process. Provelio are the Project Managers.
