Conquest Hospital Nursery Update

It is currently a hive of activity on site at our Conquest Hospital nursery project in St. Leonards-on Sea in Hastings.

Designed by HDS Architects, the new single-storey nursery building is being built using a Streif UK closed timber panel system assembled offsite. Swift progress is being made and a number of panels are now in place on site. Erection of the walls will be followed by installation of the roof cassettes and truss roof sections in readiness for the standing seam metal roof.

The benefits of modular buildings include decreased cost, reduced building timescales, reduced on-site disturbances resulting from greater off-site construction, and environmental benefits. They are increasingly being used by NHS Trusts as an apt response to their evolving demands.

When completed the new purpose built nursery will provide 55 places a day for children aged 4 months to 8 years whose parents work for East Sussex Healthcare Trust or the NHS. It will offer a fully accessible learning environment for children with enclosed outside play facilities for different age groups.

Gyoury Self was appointed by Cheesmur Building Contractors to provide engineering services for the Conquest Hospital nursery. It is one of several projects we are currently undertaking for NHS Trusts across Sussex.
