We are delighted to welcome on board, Naveed Ahmadi, who has joined our structural engineering team in Brighton and Hove.
Originally from Afghanistan, Naveed has a rather unique structural engineering heritage. Not only is Naveed’s father a structural engineer, it is a career path that has been followed by both his younger brothers, two uncles and 6 cousins. So you could say structural engineering is in his blood!
Naveed studied in the UK, attending ICP (International College of Portsmouth) in Portsmouth, where he achieved his foundation degree in civil engineering. He then studied civil engineering at the University of Portsmouth.
Following graduation, Naveed worked in an architectural consultancy in Kingston working on steel and timber related structural calculations. During his time there, Naveed liaised with more than twenty local authority building control departments, obtaining a high approval rate.
Naveed is currently working on a number of domestic projects under the guidance of Associate Partner, Paul Grinyer. He also receives support and feedback from colleagues in his engineering team.
Already conversant with TEDS and AutoCAD, Naveed will receive further software training as part of our initiative to ensure all engineers are highly-competent Revit users.
Going forward, Naveed plans to continue his studies towards gaining Chartered status. As a dynamic practice committed to nurturing the career development of young engineers, we look forward to supporting Naveed in his endeavours.
I am very happy to have joined the Gyoury Self team in Brighton. There is a great atmosphere in the office. I like the fact that it is very multi-cultural, and everyone is so friendly and helpful. Naveed Ahmadi, Structural Engineer
