Gyoury Self has provided full civil and structural designs for a Yellow Dot Nursery building at Abbotswood; a new neighbourhood development of 800 homes with associated facilities and infrastructure located north-east of Romsey in Hampshire.
As the nursery was part of the original master plan for Abbotswood, Gyoury Self has worked closely with TKL Architects to ensure the design is in strict accordance with the approved proposals – whilst at the same time providing the Client with large open workspaces that can be easily modified at a later date if necessary.
The building will be of traditional masonry construction with a ‘beam and block’ ground floor and a combination of precast concrete ‘wideslab’ and engineered timber joists at first floor. Roof construction is a combination of cut timber and trusses, and the building will be supported on mass concrete strip foundations.
This will be the twelfth nursery venture for Yellow Dot, a local expanding chain of day care nurseries looking after children aged from 4 months to 5 years. LST Projects started construction on the new nursery earlier this month and it is due for completion in Spring 2017.
