Gyoury Self provided full structural and civil engineering services for two new industrial buildings for Cordek Limited.
The buildings were commissioned to house the company’s expanding manufacturing output for their innovative construction products.
The project involved demolition of three existing B1/B8 industrial/warehouse buildings to make way for the new industrial warehouse buildings, as well as extension/alterations to existing hard standing area.
Steel portal framed buildings supported on piled foundations.
Although the main framing of the buildings was fairly straight forward there were a number of complex co-ordination issues that needed to be overcome to accommodate the manufacturing and associated plant requirements of the client.
The discharge of the foul water generated during the manufacturing process required an extensive pumped main to be installed along the adjacent South Down Link to feed back into the main Southern Water system.
One of the building was constructed over an existing culverted stream which required replacement during the works, due to the condition of the original drainage system.
