This extensive MoD training facility provided some interesting challenges for the engineering team. The project involved engineering a major facility for six state-of-the-art helicopter simulators, including a central IT and administrative centre.
The building layout, served by extensive peripheral services, made for a complex structural arrangement; particularly in the simulator halls, where travelling cranes were required over its full length to service the simulator pods. Complex engineering calculations were also required to design suitably robust foundations to take the extremely high multi-directional, dynamic loads produced when the simulator pods are in operation.
Full structural and civil engineering services for the complete building.
