Construction of new state-or-the-art covered spectator stand at South Shields Football Club stadium is well underway.
Planning for the new 600-seat (approx.) covered stand at 1st Cloud Arena was approved earlier this year by South Tyneside Council.
A fly-through animation recently posted by South Shields FC gives a glimpse into what the club supporters can expect to see in the near future. Alongside the covered seating terraces, proposed new facilities include enclosed boxes, meeting/function rooms, a large bar/lounge area and merchandise shop.
The new stand is currently under construction along the Shaftesbury Avenue side of the ground adjacent to the pitch. The steel frame is already in place and concrete terracing is being fitted.
The bespoke stand was designed and fabricated by Stadium Solutions who are also carrying out the build. Gyoury Self was appointed as consulting structural engineers to provide detailed designs for the 6-tier steel frame and strip foundations.
The new main stand forms part of a programme of works that will improve the existing facilities at the ground. We look forward to seeing the completed project later this year.
