Planning has been approved for a major expansion and refurbishment project at the Fareham Leisure Centre in Hampshire.

The project is being developed by Fareham Borough Council in partnership with Everyone Active, the UK’s leading operator of local leisure, gym, swim and activities facilities.

The works will expand and modernise the existing centre to increase the range of leisure and health experiences available to the local community. Approximately £6m will be invested in the upgrade to the Fareham Leisure Centre.

Refurbishment and modernisation works will include:

  • A bright and airy 2-storey building extension with windowed elevations.
  • Expansion the ground floor gym area.
  • Creation of a new internal splash pad in the swimming pool area.
  • New reception counter and refurbishment of the foyer area
  • Creation of a new studio space and climbing area on the lower ground floor
  • Conversion of the squash courts in to a soft play area
  • Refurbishment of dry changing rooms and café area
  • Additional parking

Fareham Leisure Centre MapGyoury Self has been involved with the project from its earliest stages, preparing preliminary designs to help develop the cost plan and provide information to support the planning application.

Paragon Building Consultancy has been appointed as project managers and Vincent Stokes is the main contractor. As part of the main design team, Gyoury Self will be working alongside GT3 Architects providing full Structural and Civil Engineering services across this extensive refurbishment project.
