Pre-fabrication is enabling construction to progress swiftly on Phase 3 of the University of Brighton’s Varley Halls Residences site, and the three new student accommodation blocks will soon reach full height.
Off-site pre-fabrication has enabled the main superstructures to be built with speed and economy, and to a high level of construction tolerance. The building components of these system build units, include light-gauge steel wall panels with in-situ concrete floors.
Fully finished, self-contained bathroom pods are also being prefabricated off-site and installed floor-by-floor as each building is constructed.
Over the coming weeks, the final floors and curved roofs will be installed. The building facades will then be finished in tile cladding and brickwork to blend with the surrounding buildings of the previously built phases.
